Minehaed U13s 81-3 Wellington U13s 48-7
Wellington U13s had another tough evening when they headed for the coast last Friday to face Minehead in a Taunton and District Youth League fixture.
On calling correctly James Weymouth had no hesitation in inserting the hosts and gave the new ball to Oliver Hansard and Tom Hopkins and it was Hansard who got first blood, when he had Joel Savage bowled for 12 when the score was 24.
Hopkins again bowled well only conceding 8 runs, but it was another Hopkins, the home sides’ Jonah who then took the initiative with a contribution of 28 in quick time before he was bowled by Ned Hillman with the score already past the half century.
Weymouth took the only other wicket to fall in his spell of 2 overs 1-5 as the home side posted 81 in 11 overs before the rain came.
Weymouth then opened the batting knowing in excess of 7 runs an over were needed, but this task was made all but impossible as Hopkins, Archie Lyon-Taylor, Oliver Buddin and Ashton Howe were all back in the pavilion before Wellington had reached double figures.
Fin Chant then hung around with his skipper, who passed his retirement score of 30, but once he departed the innings petered out to finish on 48-7 at the close.
