Taunton St Andrews U13 209-2 Wellington U13 24 all out

Wellington U 13’s had a tough task when they took a trip to The Wyvern Club on Tuesday evening for a rearranged County Cup match against a side who last year reached the last 4 nationally.

The ‘Saints’ opted to bat first and soon took the game to the visiting attack as their top 5 batsmen all reached the retirement score of 30 and it wasn’t until the score reached 84 that the first wicket fell as Patrick Cole caught Morgan Couch off the bowling of Matthias Richardson.

Tom Hopkins bowled well in only conceding 25 runs off his 4 overs as did Lewie Harrison who conceded 29 off his 4 whilst the rest of the Wellington bowlers, apart from the wicket taking Richardson, came in for some fierce hammer from the host side’s batsmen.

The only other wicket to fall was Ollie Squire, who was run out by Oliver Hansard with the score on 174, but this didn’t slow the score as a total of 209 was posted.

The task was always going to be beyond Wellington against such a fine side as Lewie Harrison top scored with 9 and Patrick Cole added 7, but from 22 – 2 to 24 all out the visitors would have been disappointed.

The games come thick and fast as they only have 3 days to dust themselves down before a league fixture away at Minehead on Friday evening.
