Wellington 162 Minehead 163-4

Wellington reconvened in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier League after a season away and were pitched to play at Minehead who had finished third in 2018 and the Red and Blacks came away with a six wicket defeat and four points despite a good start having been put into bat.

Tom Chambers and Neil Hendy put on 46 for the first wicket in good style as scores of 23 and 31 respectively were posted.

Several promising starts were made for Wellington, but they were not developed as they would have been wished to do as Arron Campbell with 25, Oli Beale with 14, Jack Beal with 13 and Ben Evett with 14 all got in the runs.

For Minehead Archer with 4-25 was their best performer with the ball.

Buchanan with a powerful 88 was the mainstay of Minehead’s chase which was completed with 16.2 overs unused.

Harrison with 25no completed the job and there were wickets for Luke Desave and Neil Hendy as well as a run out that was effected by Sam Whitefield for Wellington when they were in the field.
