Wellington 2nd XI 219-5 North Perrott 2nd XI 222-2
Despite a stunning unbeaten knock of 150no with 18 fours and seven sixes from Aks Latifi, Wellington 2nd XI suffered an eight wicket home defeat last weekend to Somerset League Division Four title challengers North Perrott 2nd XI.
The Red and Blacks second string were asked to bat and had an early setback with a wicket going down at one, but a strong second wicket stand of 139 between skipper Rob Moysey and Latifi set the side up towards a good score with Moysey hitting a good 31.
Mark Saunders, Ryan Adams and George Coate provided great support for Latifi in his blockbuster of a knock that took just 141 balls to compile as the Perrott attack wilted; only off spinner Hyett with 3-52 in nine overs was successful with the ball, but at a cost.
However, Perrott got to grips with the 220 they needed to win with a solid batting effort of their own as Taylor with 31 and Meeker with 21no supported Johnson with 77no and Eckland with 63 to get their side home with 4.5 overs to spare and to 30 points to Wellington’s 12.
Wicket takers for Wellington were Ian Hewson with 1-42 in nine overs and Rob Moysey with 1-33 in nine overs.
