U15s finish with a wash out
Wellington U15s finished their season with a wash out when the weather intervened in their proposed final fixture at home to Taunton Deane.
The team ended a tough season,2nd from bottom in the U15 11 a-side west division, but with a squad of only 5 or 6 the team has been made up with players from the U13 squad each week and in the same league as Taunton Deane, Taunton Vale, Taunton St Andrews and Staplegrove club chairman Mark Salter has done well to raise a team and fulfil their fixtures.
With more players moving up from the younger age groups and the experience many of the U13’s have had in playing in this league the prospects for the next 2 seasons look bright.
The importance of having a strong U15 side for the club was emphasised as yesterday (28/7) Wellington 1st’s included Arron Campbell, Jack Beal, Will Derrick, Macaulay Campbell and Ben Evett, all of whom came through the youth ranks and the likes of Tom Shannon, Jacob Hurry, Callum Hendy and Olly Hunt playing in the other senior teams.
Congratulations to all in the youth set up…
