Wellington U13 338 Ashbrittle U13 352
Wellington made the short trip to Ashbrittle on a sunny Friday evening, but came back empty handed in a tight contest. Jacob Hurry won the toss and elected to make use of a good track as he top scored with 22 and added 29 with Josh Cashmore.
Max Brodie who made a run a ball 18, was next in paired with Thomas Hopkins who was stepping up from the U11 squad who himself added 11 as the hosts bowled tightly without any success.
Charlie Hawkings and Riley Bowler were the next Wellington pair to the crease and with boundaries in short supply singles were the order of the day as the score crept towards 300.
James Weymouth and Oliver Hansard were the last pair to bat and although Weymouth added 18 from 12 balls faced a wicket and the dreaded run out off a wide checked the score to 338 at the turnaround.
Wellington had high hopes for a victory, as the bowling is normally their strengths, but this evening the line and length deserted them.
Hansard was probably the pick of the visiting attack with 2 for 20 from 4 and a wicket each for Hurry and Hopkins was not enough to peg back Ashbrittle who passed 350 in a 14 run victory.
