Wellington U11 286 Bishops Hull U11 274

Wellington’s U11’s leapfrogged Bishops Hull to the top of the league with their 3rd win in 8 days last Monday, with a re-arranged fixture at The Rec.

Batting 1st skipper Thomas Hopkins, who top scored with 26, ably supported by Atticus Adams added 33 runs for their allotted 4 overs to put the home side in a good position.

The visitors then had a good spell with the ball as the pairing of Liam Buddin and Thomas Knell found runs hard to come by and 4 wickets in 6 overs left this top of the table clash in the balance.

Mathias Richardson and Tim Vellacott pushed the score to 241 and 2 fine boundaries from Oliver Buddin paired with Oliver Hutchings took the score passed 250 with 1 pair to come.

Thomas Gendall and Lewie Harrison added 32 runs without losing a wicket to put the hosts in the box seat in posting a total of 286.

Wickets were always going to be the key, in this evenly matched contest and Hopkins got 1 in the 2nd over to put the pressure firmly on the Taunton team.

Good cricket was played and Bishops Hull batted sensibly in reaching 249 after 12.

The tie then swung decisively as Liam Buddin got his 2nd wicket followed by further successes for Adams and Knell meant the last pair arrived at the crease with the target 37 runs away.

They made a good fist of it and in fading light with Wellington taking their quicker bowlers out of the attack a 12 run victory was secured.
