Taunton Deane Tornadoes U13s 216 Wellington U13s 285

Wellington’s U13 side were in fine form on Friday evening, as they ended up victorious by 69 runs against the Taunton Deane girls’ side The Tornadoes.

Having elected to bat first the visitors batted sensibly in amassing 24 runs in their allotted 5 overs without losing a wicket.

The second visiting pair were undone by Riley Bowler (3 for 15 from 4 overs) and from then on the home attack kept the score in check as wickets fell steadily and The Tornadoes reached 216 at the end of their 20 over spell.

Others amongst the wickets were Oliver Hansard (2 for 15 from 3 overs), Josh Cashmore (2 for 30 from 4 overs, and 1 apiece for James Weymouth, and Atticus Adams who was making his 1st appearance stepping up from the U11 squad.

Max Brodie bowled quickly as he only conceded 13 runs in his 4 overs.

Skipper Hurry opened the batting and along with Cashmore set the tone for the innings, as they clubbed 52 runs in the first 4 overs with Hurry the lions share of 42.

Ned Hillman joined Bowler for the 2nd 5 over spell and the visitors came back in to the game with 3 wickets, before Brodie and Adams steadied the ship to leave the hosts on 257 with the last pair coming to the wicket.

Weymouth and Hansard, with the help of the ‘extras’ which totalled 34 in the innings saw Wellington to a score of 285 and a 69 run well deserved victory.
