Broadway and Horton U11 185 Wellington U11 291

A fine all round performance saw Wellington U11s record a convincing win at Broadway and Horton on Sunday morning. On a cold morning under heavy skies, Broadway, with their in-experienced side decided to bat first and found the Wellington attack very difficult to score runs off of.

Wickets fell steadily, once Daniel Huntley, on debut, made the 1st breakthrough in the 4th over and he ended with fine figures of 3 for 7 from 3 overs.

Atticus Adams was next amongst the wickets taking 2 in an over, and the hosts were then up against it, as further wickets for ‘skipper Thomas Hopkins (2) and Thomas Gendall meant a total of 185 was posted at the changeover.

Another debutante, Alex Acton, although not amongst the wickets, can be well pleased as he sent down 2 maidens in his only 2 overs bowled.

Hopkins and Adams were first to bat, and made sure there were no slip ups, and the game was as good as over by the time they had finished their 4 overs, as they took the score to 238.

Gendall and Oscar Milton were next in and they added another 28 runs without losing a wicket, before the home side then had a good spell with the ball, as Acton and Huntley found runs harder to come by, but still took the score to 279 with only 4 overs to go.

This brought Richardson, who had a fine game behind the stumps and Tim Vellacott to the crease to see the victory margin past the 100 mark as Wellington put pressure on league leaders Bishops Hull who visit the rec tomorrow (Monday 18th).

Hopkins finished top scorer with 16 and Gendall and Adams, 15 and 12 respectfully.
