Wells Sunday XI 133 Wellington Sunday XI 134-4

Welllington Sunday XI were in good form once more when they travelled to Somerset League Division Two club Wells last weekend for a friendly match and came away victorious by six wickets.

Last week the Red and Blacks batting was the overwhelming feature of their play and this week the bowling was in vogue as the home side batted on winning the toss.

Ben Meek and Charlie Burrough took the new ball and overall it was only home keeper Smart with 25 and home skipper Moore with 20 that really got going for Wells.

Meek took 2-16 in eight over as Burrough bowled same taking 3-20 as both delivered their overs in two spells.

Teenagers Tom Shannon and Oli Beale provided the first change attack and bowled sixteen overs between them for a cost of just 69 runs and took three middle order wickets between them.

A short burst from each of Will Derrick and Macaulay Campbell saw off the Wells innings for 133 with an over going unused.

Wellington were into their chase of the 134 required well as Jack Beal and Ben Evett added 33 first up before Evett was out for 18.

Beal made a good 25 and the score was 52 when he was second out, but some crisp batting from Miles Cave with 30 and solid efforts from Will Derrick (14), Oli Beale (15no) and Jacob Hurry (10no) saw Wellington over the line with 13 overs to spare.
