Wellington 2nd XI 177-6 Barrington 179-5
Despite putting up their best show of the season with the bat Wellington 2nd XI are still seeking a first win of the season after Barrington won at Courtland Road last weekend with just over two overs to spare.
On winning the toss Wellington opted to bat and it was Mark Salter and Mark Saunders who added 38 opening wicket runs before Salter was out.
Lewis Sparks joined Saunders and they took the score towards three figures with Sparks making a capital 26 as Saunders progressed to a vital and excellent 54.
However when Saunders was out with the score at 116-5 consolidation was needed and through the good play of Thom Trott and Tom Perry they added 52 unbroken runs for the seventh wicket with Trott making 42no and Perry 14no as the rest of the innings was navigated without any further damage.
D.Brain with 3-25 in nine overs was Barrington’s best offering with the ball.
Trott and Perry then turned their attentions to the ball and as they claimed 1-27 and 4-28 respectivley in nine overs apiece as they gave Barrington’s batters a lot to think on, but so too did D.Brain as he constructed a knock of 71 to go with Smith’s 48no and this took Barrington to 31 points to Wellington second string’s total of 13.
