Wellington 3rd XI 66 Broadway and Horton 2nd XI 67-5

On losing the toss and been asked to bat first in this Somerset League Division Seven South match Wellington 3rd XI lost a wicket to the opening ball of the game and later saw their score dip to 27-6, but a bright seventh wicket stand between Richard Henwood who made a fine 24 and Andy Hurry with 10 saw that Wellington’s score became a good one all things considered as Oli Beale’s 11 was the other double figure score on offer for the Red and Blacks.

Driskel with 3-5 was Broadway’s main dangerman.

The pitch under use was a victim of the recent deluges and the home side struggled too as Tom Shannon collected the opening two wickets to make B and H be 15-2.

Had Grabham been caught when the chances to do so came (note Andy Hurry’s fine efforts) then the game may well have been up for the home side, but he chipped away to make 24 and was only dismissed with seven needed.

Wickets also came for Richard Henwood, Andy Hurry and Oli Beale as the side put in a good shift all told taking eight points to B and H’s 33.
