Wellington 135-2 Ilminster B 70-4

Wellington’s second dose of indoor cricket this winter season continued in the Somerset Cricket Board’s Crewkerne based competition last Sunday evening and the Red and Blacks came away with a 65 run win over Ilminster B in the second division to make it two wins out of two.

Wellington were asked to bat first and saw solid contributions get them away to a good start as Macaulay Campbell and Lee Nichol opened up with a 59 run opening stand that was ended when Campbell was out for 13.

Nichol with 27 and Luke Vernon with the same score each got to the retirement level and a knock of 20no from Arron Campbell along with late runs from both Will Derrick and Tyler Fyfe saw Wellington to 135-2 in their 12 overs.

All of the Wellington side had a bowl and they did so with discipline and good fielding as the opening wicket proved when Tyler Fyfe ran out Paul and Ilminster B were 18-1.

Macaulay Campbell with two catches, one a caught and bowled, took 1-11, Will Derrick took 1-9 and Luke Vernon took 1-4 as Ilminster B mustered 70-4 in reply with Harding with 14 been their best effort with the bat.
