Wellington 108 Queen Camel 90
Wellington began their second dose of indoor competition for this winter with a game in Division B of the Somerset Cricket Board’s Crewkerne based league against Queen Camel last Sunday evening and came away with an 18 run win to start with.
Camel asked Wellington to bat first and had a wicket with the Red and Blacks score on three when Luke Vernon was run out.
Oli Beale joined Arron Campbell and they got the score going nicely as both reached the retiring threshold of 25 with Beale playing well as he hit three fours.
Will Derrick with 14 good runs saw that Wellington got their score into three figures and the innings ended off of the last ball for 108.
For Queen Camel Day with 2-31 was their best bowler with one wicket for Dennett and three run outs accounting for their successes with the ball…
Wellington sent down 51 extras and this accounted for well over half of the Camel total as only Watts with 17 and Dennett with the same really got going with the bat.
Wickets came the way of Will Derrick, Arron Campbell and Tyler Fyfe with Derrick, Fyfe and Luke Vernon all running out one player to see their side home to an opening day victory.
