Sampford Arundel 104-3 Wellington 96

A series of dropped chances cost Wellington in this Somerset Cricket Board Indoor League Division A match last Sunday afternoon when the Red and Blacks lost to Sampford Arundel by just eight runs and this now sees that all teams in the division have at least one win each with two match days to go.

Arron Campbell asked Sampford to bat first and saw Ian Hewson with 2-20 in this three overs do a good job with the ball.

Richie Bellringer and Sam Loud with 26no retired and 29no respectively did well for their side in the middle overs as did Pete Kittow and Laurence Burns late on with 13 and 16no.

Will Derrick and Arron Campbell did a good job with the ball for Wellington in the busy middle part of the Sampford innings and to need 105 to win was acceptable.

Losing a wicket with the score on one was not ideal for Wellington, but Ben Evett and Mark Bray got settled in to get their team’s score to 26 before Evett was run out for 11.

Bray made it to retirement and with Rob Moysey making a capital 19 Wellington were 77-3 with three overs or so left when Moysey was out.

However despite Ian Hewson’s decent knock of 11 and Bray making 33 his run out with three balls left saw a first win of the season for Sampford Arundel as Pete Kittow and Sam Loud with two wickets each did well with the ball.

Wellington face title favourites Bridgwater on Sunday 3rd December from 6.00pm in what is their next game.
