Castle Cary 201-5 Wellington 2nd XI 204-1

A superior innings of 101no from Mark Bray and a fine knock of 76no were the outstanding efforts from Wellington 2nd XI’s visit to Castle Cary in Division Four of the Somerset League last weekend that saw the side collect 30 points and move up to fourth ahead of their weekend off due to the division being a team light.

Brooks and Bray added an unbeaten 167 for the second wicket to set up a fine win for the Red and Blacks second string after Castle Cary had posted a decent enough 201-5 in their 45 overs.

With the ball Wellington saw Jake Nichol’s seam and Rob Moysey’s leg spin both be controlled and measured as they both let just eighteen runs go in nine overs each.

Wickets were taken by this pair and Ryan Adams too, but a number of chances were spilled and this saw that the chance for more bowling points was spurned as Mekala with 53no top scored for Cary.

However when it came to batting it was all Wellington for after Trevor Brooks and Kevin Crout had added 37 good opening wicket runs Mark Bray hit five sixes and several fours as he achieved his maiden Wellington ton with the last shot of the game having seen Brooks bat all innings to record his capital score.
