Wellington 2nd XI 198 Ilton 79
Wellington 2nd XI stays in seventh place in the nine team Somerset League Division Four, but are closing in on the mid table following this comfortable 119 run home win over Ilton last weekend.
Wellington opted to bat first and had lost four wickets before they had scored fifty runs, but Mark Saunders with 34 was what started the fightback from the Red and Blacks second string as he added 30 for the fifth wicket with Mark Salter who made 15.
From here Ryan Adams with a fine 51 and skipper Rob Moysey with 39 added 66 for the seventh wicket and this put Wellington into a good position and this was further enhanced with Lewis Sparks who made 10 and last pair Charlie Burrough and Jake Nichol just missed out on getting their side to full batting points as the final total was 198 with two balls left unused.
Hitchcott with 3-20 and Price with 3-24 did well with the ball for Ilton.
After tea Burrough and Nichol got amongst the Ilton line up as they made no less than six ducks as only their skipper Price with 52 made any impression.
Burrough collected one wicket and Nichol two as the base was laid for a good Wellington effort with the ball.
This let Rob Moysey weave his leg spinning magic as he took 5-20 in just over six overs to make for an Ilton innings that occupied just 26.3 overs; Ryan Adams added to his good day with the wicket of Price as he hastened the game to an early finish and saw Wellington take 34 points to Ilton’s 13.
