Despite defeat,Wellington U11s can feel very proud of their efforts at Taunton on Friday evening with the youngest team put out for many a year.

Fielding first, Wellington, made up of 2 debutants and several from years 3 and 4, worked hard all evening in the field and wickets for Tom Knell in his first game and year 3 Thomas Gendal, showed what the club has to look forward to over the next few years.

Restricting Taunton to 290 was a fabulous effort from all the team as Lucy Hill, Ashton Howe, Thomas Hopkins, Oliver Hutchings and James Ganniclifft made up for the one man deficit.

Once batting the determination showed and each pair added to the team’s total, but special mention must go to Thomas Hopkons and Lucy Hill who added 26 runs in their overs in a team total of 248 in their allotted 16 overs.

The youngsters now have a week’s break before returning for the last two league fixtures.
