Wellington 2nd XI 150 Wembdon 2nd XI 114
Wellington 2nd XI are in a more comfortable situation in Division Four of the Somerset League following their win in this low scoring win over their Wembdon counterparts last weekend.
Choosing to bat on winning the toss saw the Red and Blacks second string be two down with the score on 13, but Kevin Crout with 13 and a capital effort from Mark Saunders, who would pass fifty, saw the home side improve on their early place in the game.
Saunders made it to 56 as he was the top score for his side and with 22 from skipper Rob Moysey and a decent 20 from Jack Beal saw the home side saw Wellington pass 100.
Wickets fell to see the side all out with just over two overs unused with Jake Nichol’s 11 been valuable late on as D.Watts with 4-13 for Wembdon was their best effort with the ball.
Jack Beal and Jake Nichol then turned their attention to bowling and took a wicket apiece to make Wembdon be 1-2 and this gave Wellington much encouragement.
Lowe with 38 threatened to upset Wellington’s momentum, but he had little support as all of the home attack got involved in the wicket taking with Rob Moysey’s double strike ahead of Ryan Adams taking three and Lewis Sparks taking one saw Wellington claim 32 points to Wembdon’s 15.
