Wellington U15s 134 – 4 Over Stowey U15s 92

Wellington U15’s recorded a fine victory when they smashed Over Stowey’s 100% record on Sunday morning at The Playing Fields, in The Taunton and District Youth League.

Batting 1st captain Ollie Beale and Fabian Reah put on an opening stand of 78 in only 8 overs with Beale top scoring with 39 and Reah contributing 31 and when Callum Hamer reached the middle his intention was made clear, as he launched a massive 6 off only his 2nd ball.

The visitors slowed the run rate down in the 2nd half of the innings, but Jonty Ogilvie carried his bat for 17 to post a challenging 137 at the change round.

Over Stowey batted sensibly and scored up with the rate in reaching 75 for 2 with still 12 overs remaining, until up stepped James Drohan, who took 2 wickets with his 1st 2 balls, just missed out on a hat-trick, but then took another wicket with his 4th ball.

This left the home side in the box seat, reducing Stowey to 76 for 5, and playing a man short, they could only end up 42 runs short at the death and the U15’s should be full of confidence as they take a long trip to Wells next Sunday.
