Crewkerne 2nd XI 182-6 Wellington 3rd XI 183-2
Wellington 3rd XI will feel that they are a win away from pretty much locking down second place in Division Eight South of the Somerset League following this fine eight wicket away win at Crewkerne last weekend; their visit to South Petherton 2nd XI this weekend will be pivotal.
As for this game Crewkerne were indebted to Tolley who made 85 fine runs from his position as opener, but did benefit from been dropped twice.
Gould with 19 and Critchley with 19no were the home side’s other best efforts with the bat.
Wellington’s bowlers found wickets hard to come by, but there were two for Charlie Burrough and one each for Richard Henwood and Ollie Beale to go with two run outs.
Mark Saunders is in fine form at this time as he cracked 84no and was very punishing on anything overpitched.
Thom Trott hit 31 in 15 balls before he fell to the first ball that Male – Crewkerne’s best bowler – bowled, but this did not deter Wellington as Richard Henwood (41no) joined Saunders and they saw their side home with a 120 run third wicket stand and to 31 points.
With four to play the team is well set to achieve a second promotion in four seasons.
