Wellington 166 North Petherton 169-4

Wellington face two successive home WEPL Somerset Division games where they can secure some space between their current position and the mid table area of the division when they host Butleigh and Frome as a result of this six wicket defeat at divisional leaders North Petherton last weekend.

Despite losing a wicket in the second over Robin Davies and Alex Sparks put their foot down and added 62 good second wicket runs for Wellington making 34 and 35 respectively as they were relatively untroubled.

Zandre Swartz was in fine form with the bat for a second week as he made 40 in an excellent manner and at 131-4 with 20 overs to go Wellington were looking well set to kick on, but Swartz’s departure saw the last six wickets fall for 35 runs.

Petherton’s former first class player Ian Blackwell took 4-38 and Ali Bunce, who had a season with Wellington in 2011, took 3-37 in ten overs each and did a good job for the home side.

Petherton won in 36.4 overs with their overseas player Dave Rhoda making 65no and despite two wickets each from Luke Desave and Arron Campbell Wellington took just four points from the game, but know they have other teams to concentrate rather then a team who should win the division sometime between now and September 3.
