Wellington U13 92 – 8 Taunton St Andrews ‘B’ 93 – 6
Wellington U13s just lost out by conceding a bye off the last ball of the match at The Wyvern Club, on Sunday morning in the Taunton Youth League.
Opting to bat 1st the visitors batsmen all got a start, but no one went on to make a sizeable contribution against some tight ‘saints’ bowling.
Opener James Drohan reached double figures before being bowled and then later contributions from captain Ben Wardell (15) and Cam Forrest (11 n.o.) were the mainstay of the probably under par 92 – 8 at the close of their 20 overs.
St Andrews opener Joe Holman reached 20 before being snapped up by debutante ‘keeper Charlie Hawkings and then a middle order collapse kept the game alive right to the end.
Alex Parsons ended up 27 n.o. for the home side and was at the crease entering the final over with 6 required for victory.
Tom Shannon bowled accurately and the scores were level with 1 ball remaining and a scampered bye gave St Andrews the victory and their first 3 points of the season.
Ben White was again the pick of Wellington’s bowlers, finishing with 2 – 12 in his 4 overs.
The boys are at home next Sunday when unbeaten Taunton Vale will be the visitors (10am).
