Wellington U11 258 – 2 Taunton Vale U11 234-6

Wellington’s Under 11s returned a fine victory on Friday evening at the Playing Field in the Taunton Youth League.

Batting 1st James Weymouth and Rob Machin gave a solid start in reaching 210 at the end of their 4 overs.

The Taunton bowlers then bowled tightly as Finlay Russell and Luke Golding struggled to get on top then Marcia Reah and Charlie Hawkings added 22 in their allotted time before skipper Ollie Hunt and Sam Foster took the total to 258 at the close.

Wellington took wickets at regular intervals in the Taunton innings, but at the half way stage Vale had reached 230 and the game was in the balance.

6 wickets in the last 7 overs, put paid to a visitors victory and the winning margin of 24 was thoroughly deserved.

The youngsters are on their travels next Friday, when they take a trip into Taunton to face St Andrews.
