Wellington 2nd XI 149-7 Trull 127
Wellington 2nd XI battled back from a hard start to their innings to record a win over Trull in Division Five of the Somerset League last weekend when a fine bowling effort saw them win at home.
The side were put into bat once more and at 39-4 were in trouble despite Marc Holloway and Kevin Crout both getting going with knocks of 18 and 13 respectively.
Neil Hendy and skipper Rob Moysey steadied things with a fifth wicket stand of 37 as the skipper’s 33no made a lot of difference to his side’s effort with the bat.
He was assisted well by Lewis Sparks, Darren Davis and Ben Evett who with 17, 12 and 19no bolstered the score to get to 149-7 at tea.
Trull had bowled well with Parsons taking 3-20 in nine overs and Lawton 2-12 in nine too doing well for the visiting side.
Trull did not chase the 150 needed to win in a comfortable manner as Lee and Jake Nichol removed the openers early and cheaply.
Jake’s 3-16 in nine overs represents a fine effort and Lee’s 1-32 in nine overs too was decent also.
Darren Davis nipped one wicket out in the middle order and with Neil Hendy’s seven overs going for just one more run than the number of overs he bowled, at 57-6 Trull were in danger, but with Parsons lashing 45 the game was not over totally as a 36 run eighth wicket stand showed, but it was Rob Moysey’s leg spin that served up 4-12 in 7.1 overs and saw Wellington to a 22 run 32 point win and not for the first time his intervention was critical and telling.
