Wellington 147-1 Wembdon 113-4
Having been asked to bat first Wellington were away at a pace as Neil Hendy and Alex Sparks saw that 68 runs came in the first five overs as Wembdon’s bowling was all over the shop and with some poor fielding letting through numerous overthrows Wellington were in with a chance of making a big total.
Both Hendy and Sparks retired and gave way to Paul Short and Aks Latifi who made 26no and 27no and with Wembdon not really improving in the field Wellington continued to score at a fast rate.
Alex Sparks came back to the arena and made 42no and with Arron Campbell making a useful 10no Wellington had made 147-1 in 12 overs with only Goss (1-24) taking a wicket – indeed Wellington have lost only six wickets all winter.
The asking rate was always going to be hard to achieve for Wembdon, but they did well to reach 113-4 in 12 overs as Lott (28no) and Trunks (26no) retired and came back to the arena to be at the crease when the game ended.
Syvret with 38 hit the spinners well over the top, but Thom Trott’s three over spell cost just ten runs and Neil Hendy with 3-20 snared late wickets to see that the Red and Blacks should finish the pre Christmas block of games second to Bridgwater who have won all four of their games.
One game with Minehead needs to be re-set after been postponed due to the November floods and this will complete what has been a good winter in the indoor form for the Club as it continues to build on 2012’s numerous outdoor successes.
