Wellington 2nd XI 160-6 Bridgwater 3rd XI 164-6
Wellington 2nd XI lost their penultimate home Somerset League Division Four match of the season by four wickets last weekend as Bridgwater 3rd XI pushed into a promotion position after this win.
Wellington lost a wicket on two, but saw Leo Goodman-Jones and Max Capaldi add 97 second wicket runs with Goodman-Jones making another solid top order score of 31.
Capaldi top scored for Wellington with 60 and this was a fine effort.
Kevin Crout with 12 and Sam Murdock with 14no got Wellington to the eighth batting point by tea as Andison with 3-45 in 10 overs was the pick of the Bridgwater attack.
Bridgwater dipped to 36-3 as Scott Davey’s recently discovered capacity as an off spinner saw him capture each of these wickets as he took 3-40 in 8 overs all told, but A.Hewson with 54 and Skidmore with 31no played rock solid knocks, so although Simon Rudd with 1-16 and Max Capaldi with 2-15 took a second block of three wickets for Wellington the visitors got over the line with 6.3 overs left and took 31 points to Wellington’s 14.
It is off to Wembdon next weekend for a game that starts at 1.30pm.
