Wellington Midweek XI 128-5 Newington 99

Wellington Midweek XI made it two 20/20 wins in two evenings when they posted a 29 run win over Kent tourists Newington last Friday evening; choosing to bat first Marc Holloway lost his opening partner in the second over, but he and Rob Moysey were not to be put off by this matter as they added 76 for Wellington’s second wicket in good time with Holloway makingĀ a fine 37.

Moysey cracked 63 as Newington’s bowling became wayward and he profited from this, Paul Short’s quick 18no at the end for Wellington propelled the Red and Blacks to 128-5 in 20 overs.

Wellington bowled and fielded very well with Will Hinchcliffe’s left arm over medium pace getting rid of both openers; as the innings developed Richard Short and Sam Murdock with four wickets each were most effective for Wellington as was Sam Baycock with his three outfield catches and Wellington won with an over to spare.
