ECB National Club T20 Competition 2016 – WEPL Region

We have received our allocation for this competition and we could not have more of a local derby feel to matters if we tried as we will play Premier One side Taunton St Andrews and Premier Two side Taunton Deane. We will now work with our two opposing Clubs to settle on a venue and a date for the event. We are looking to host this coming season too… More details to follow in due course.

Bridgwater 137-4 Wellington 79

Bridgwater regained the Somerset Cricket Board’s Indoor Title a year after losing it to Wellington as the League’s Division A once more went to the very last game. With Wembdon falling through the trap door in the Division’s opening game when they lost to Taunton St Andrews it was over to Ashbrittle and North Petherton to battle it out in the second game and a win for Ashbrittle would see matters go down to the last game and bring net run

Competitive T20 Entries 2016 – Update

The entry periods for both the Somerset Cricket Board’s portion of the National T20 Competition for Under 19s and the National Club T20 (which WEPL handles for our region initially) are both now passed. Thirty-one Clubs have entered the former event and this is up on 2015’s entry pool; the draw for 2016 is to be made on Monday 14th December and will be reported on as and when our detail is known. Eighteen Clubs (the maximum allowed) have entered the latter

Zandre Swartz – WCC Overseas Player 2016

I am delighted to be able to advise you that Zandre Swartz has accepted our offer to be our Overseas Player for the 2016 season per the discussions had on Wednesday 2nd December when a General Committee session was held. Following satisfactory feedback from Pwllheli CC an offer from WCC was made on Monday 7th December and was accepted a day later. Zandre will arrive in time for the week commencing Monday 11th April and will be with us for the whole

Wembdon 104-2 Wellington 106-3

Wellington secured their status in Division A of the Somerset Cricket Board’s Indoor League for another season with this three wicket win over Wembdon last Sunday afternoon. With Wembdon’s last game against Taunton St Andrews being first up on Sunday 13th December when the last round of games is played the loser will be playing in Division B in 2016 as they both have three points from four games played and Wellington are now on six from their four played
