Entries for the 79th running of the Baker Cup are being invited from next week and we will be entering once more. The 2016 AGM for the Competition is on Wednesday 2nd March at Taunton CC from 7.30pm…
I am pleased to be able to announce that we have received a formal invite to compete in this Competition in 2016 and this has been accepted. WEPL, who run the section of this national event for our region, have eighteen places available. Of those who competed last season sixteen Clubs remain within WEPL following the re-structure and they get first refusal of a place in 2016 with the other two places to be filled via a pre-tournament competition.
We have applied to enter this competition for 2016 and a favourable response from WEPL, who will run our area’s input to this competition, has been received. They note that ‘priority will be given to those who entered last year’ so a place within the eighteen Clubs that WEPL can accommodate is very likely to be on offer to us. Once a place is confirmed then we will be looking at hosting a day’s cricket too… More to follow.
Although the ballot of all forty WEPL Tier Three Clubs went 20-19 in favour of a 12.30pm start with one Club not having a preference there will be no change for season 2016. The matter will be a Point of Order at WEPL’s AGM in January 2016, but we will begin matches at 1.00pm with the last four beginning at 12.30pm as is currently the case. As a Club we voted against the early start…
