Zandre Swartz – WCC Overseas Player 2016
I am delighted to be able to advise you that Zandre Swartz has accepted our offer to be our Overseas Player for the 2016 season per the discussions had on Wednesday 2nd December when a General Committee session was held.
Following satisfactory feedback from Pwllheli CC an offer from WCC was made on Monday 7th December and was accepted a day later.
Zandre will arrive in time for the week commencing Monday 11th April and will be with us for the whole season, which, in 2016, will be slightly longer than on the past two occasions as the WEPL season, along with others, extends into September; at this time Zandre will be with us until the week commencing Monday 12th September as a result.
His main role with WCC in 2016 is to be a wicketkeeper and top order batsman for the 1st XI.
Zandre brings with him an experience of First Class cricket having played for the Griqualand West state side between 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 and this season (2015-2016) has played both List A and T20 games in the CSA Provincial Competitions for those formats of the game for the Northern Cape state side (which is what Griqualand West was renamed a few years ago).
He plays his Club cricket for St Patrick’s CBC in the Northern Cape Cricket Association’s DFA Premier League 50 over competition and, in 2015, played in the North Wales Premier League for Pwllheli CC where he made over 500 runs with a highest score of 130*.
I am sure you will join me in welcoming Zandre to our Club for the 2016 season and further information will be made available when it is to hand.
