Wellington 2nd XI has won the Somerset League’s Division Six South title for 2021 and so will play at Division Five level in 2022 as the team’s stated aim for this season was completed at the last game and their rise back up the county league structure has commenced at the earliest opportunity. Wellington pulled off a fine West of England Premier League Somerset Division win over Taunton at home on Bank Holiday Saturday as a game of real ebb and flow took place at Courtland Road that concluded with a fourteen run win for the Red and Blacks and a sixth placed finish for the 2021 season. Wellington 3rd XI dominated this Somerset League Division Seven Red game at North Petherton last weekend, but the rain got in the way as Richard Henwood’s side strived for victory; the loss of eight overs saw that Petherton’s second string had the chance to play for a draw and that is what they duly did. Wellington’s third string were asked to bat on losing the toss, but this did not pose any issues as James Brackenbury cracked 75 glorious runs
