Wellington Sunday XI 199 Weston Super Mare Sunday XI 96

Wellington took a side to WEPL Premier Two (Bristol and Somerset) Division club Weston Super Mare last Sunday afternoon and gave an outing to some more players who were playing for the first time this season and all did well as a full part with both bat and ball was enjoyed by the Red and Blacks players.

Des Campbell opted to bat first and saw Trevor Brooks and Aks Latifi add 47 for the opening wicket with Latifi playing the cover drive well as he made it to 27 before being caught.

Brooks made a pleasant 32 and the Wellington score had reached three figures through the careful play of Ollie Wilkins who made 18 and Des Campbell with 10 as they collected singles at will.

Weston fought back with Kearsey taking 3-17 and at 119-6 Wellington needed to reassert themselves and through Arron Campbell with 27, Jack Beal with 23 and Zandre Swartz with 22no the Red and Blacks had made 199 all out when Chambers (2-30) ended things with eleven balls unused.

Press with 28 was the mainstay of the Weston reply as he added 11 with F.Beamond, but once Ollie Beale had bowled the latter named player the home side crumbled to 96 all out with over ten overs left unused.

After Jack Beal and Ryan Henwood had bowled well first up Beale and Richard Henwood started to get amongst the wickets and Wellington’s bowlers were helped by Trevor Brooks who took three catches.

Zandre Swartz took time out from keeping wicket and showed some good leg spin in taking 2-15 and Ben Evett went one better with the same skill in taking 3-13.

Trevor Brooks produced a golden arm showing with his occasional off spinners as he took 3-11 to end the game 103 runs in favour of Wellington.
