Under 13s start with friendly win

Wellington Under 13 cricket team, started their outdoor season, with a 44 run victory, away at Huish and Langport, in a 20 over friendly on Sunday afternoon writes Team Manager Tony Hutchings.

Max White and Taio Harvey set the tone for the match compiling 43 runs in their 5 overs, without losing a wicket, and the good work was continued by Fabian Reah, who clubbed the only 6 in the match, and Harvey Pierce, who added 33, but with the 8 run deduction for the only wicket to fall in the innings, Wellington reached 268 at the halfway stage.

James Drohan and Logan May, batted sensibly for their turn at the crease, then the final push was made by Matthew Hill and Oliver Beale, who topped scored with 24, to see the Wellington innings close on 328.

The home side were always struggling in the chase, with all 8 visiting players having a turn at bowling, and they can be proud of their bowling figures, especially Taio, who returned figures of 1 – 8.

The players can now look forward to the opening league fixture, next Sunday, when Ashbrittle will be the visitors to the playing field (10am).
