Wellington Midweek XI played their final 20/20 match of the season and lost by three wickets to Surrey tourists Ripley last Thursday evening in a game that was alive to the last over.

Alex Sparks made a capital 64 with two maxima as he carried on his top current batting form – George Coate with 15 and John Paine with 17 gave him good support as Wellington posted a final total of 129 in their 20 overs.

Ripley were indebted to M.Ilks with 42 as he steered the touring side to the brink of the required 130 and despite Rowan Varkevisser and David Derrick claiming a couple of wickets each Ripley rounded off their Somerset tour on an unbeaten note.
