Bridgwater 2nd XI 121-4 v Wellington
Wellington stay eighth in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier League after collecting eight points from this drawn game with Bridgwater 2nd XI at home last weekend as violent thunderstorms took hold of the game after 33.3 overs of the visitors innings; as a result the Red and Blacks are 37 points clear of Taunton St Andrews 2nd XI in ninth and are only 29 points off second placed Chard given the tight nature of the division save for top dogs Shapwick and Polden and basement boys Staplegrove.
Arron Campbell won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first in weather conditions that were a portent of how things would map out in the end.
Bridgwater second string openers Hill and Coombes batted well in the conditions and posted an opening stand of 59 before Coombes was bowled by Paul Short for 23.
Hill continued to a decent 45 before he was second out with the score on 90 as he was one of two victims for Sam Whitefield who took the very good figures of 7-1-16-2 as his off spin was productive for Wellington.
A wicket for Jack Beal came the way of the Red and Blacks when he bowled Moyse as Watson made 23 for Bridgwater and at the end of the game it was Devitt and Witts who were at the crease for Bridgwater, but having come off for rain that was too heavy the teams were never to return due to the lashing that the ground took from a series of thunderstorms that took over.
Wellington took eight points and Bridgwater 2nd XI six.
