Taunton 173-9 Wellington 88
Wellington’s free flowing run making was stopped at Taunton last weekend when the side was bundled out for 88 having done a good job with the ball.
Taunton opted to bat first and saw birthday boy Luke Desave and Will Derrick take the new ball and reduce the home side to 37-4 as Desave took 2-27 in nine overs all told and Derrick was in fine form with 1-10 in nine overs.
Home skipper Kelly steadied the ship for Taunton as he made a cool 61 to take his side from 98-6 to 173-9 as Solanki with 25 gave him good support in a fifty five run seventh wicket stand.
Jack Beal and Ryan Aingworth bowled well in the middle overs for Wellington and it was Macaulay Campbell and Paul Short who claimed vital late wickets for the Red and Blacks with there having been three outfield catches for Will Derrick and three keeping based dismissals for Ben Evett.
Wellington were on the back foot when they batted as only Paul Short with 21 and Arron Campbell with 14 got going as the innings dipped to 55-9 as left arm spinners Clark (5-12) and Orr (2-18) got to work with the ball to fine effect for their side.
A defiant last wicket stand of 33 between Will Derrick (18no) and Macaulay Campbell (14) kept Taunton at bay for a while, but the game was up when Campbell was dismissed with 17 overs going unused.
