Wellington 129-8 Wembdon 130-3
In Wellington’s second game in the WEPL region’s First Phase Group Three of the National Club T20 competition they took on host club Wembdon for the third time in May and chose to bat on winning the toss and this saw Arron Campbell with 40 in 25 balls with six fours and Luke Desave with 40 in 30 balls with 5 fours blaze a trail after Jack Beal had added 25 for the first wicket with his captain.
With 55 added by Campbell and Desave for the second wicket and then 26 for the third wicket by Desave and Oli Beale at 96-3 Wellington were in a decent position, but Puddy with leg spin realising 4-0-17-3 saw that Wellington lost some of their momentum despite Andy Hurry’s 18 towards the end of their innings.
As in the Baker Cup First Round game just three days earlier Wellington ripped out Wembdon’s top order as Brooks and Brockwell, as was the case in the other game, were out with the score in single figures as Luke Desave claimed both scalps.
Pigden with 49no in fifty balls with five fours anchored the Wembdon innings and although Jacob Hurry behind the sticks caught Rich off of Will Derrick for 22 and so made Wembdon 34-3 Puddy came to the crease and saw off the total with 13 balls to spare to end a decent day of coloured kit action.
