Clevedon 155-8 Wellington 102

Wellington 1st XI took part in the WEPL region’s First Phase Group Three of the National Club T20 competition at Wembdon CC on Bank Holiday Sunday and put in a couple of good performances against Premier One side Clevedon and the host Club who have been regular opponents in recent times.

In the Red and Blacks first game Clevedon were asked to bat first and at 45-4 with Luke Desave, Will Derrick and Jack Beal in the wickets it was only a knock of 43 from Pearson-Taylor and a late flurry of 35 from Leaman that took Clevedon to 155-8 in their twenty over block.

Beal getting Warwickshire pro player Jacob Lintott bowled off of his first ball was notable.

Ryan Aingworth with 4-0-18-2 delivered well in the middle overs.

Arron Campbell and Jack Beal formed the day’s opening stand and they added 41 first wicket runs as Wellington commenced their chase with skipper Campbell making 33 with seven fours in 25 balls and Beal 12 with three fours in 15 balls.

It took Clevedon to use eight bowlers to end the Wellington innings for 102 in the last over with Ryan Aingworth’s 12 and Macaulay Campbell’s defiant 15 both coming later in the piece as Wellington had done well against a team packed with star quality.
