Wellington 2nd XI 211-5 Curry Rivel 91

Wellington 2nd XI recorded another dominant victory in Division Six South of the Somerset League on Bank Holiday Saturday as Alex Troake’s team swept home by 120 runs to maintain their position at the top of the table after securing another 35 point haul.

Curry Rivel arrived at Wellington having successfully chased down a couple of scores in excess of 200 and asked Wellington to bat when they called correctly, signalling their intentions.

Thom Trott was equal to this and more as he crafted a magnificent 101 as he added 49 opening wicket runs with Andy Hurry.

Lewis Sparks cracked a quickfire 20 and Jacob Hurry with 15 aided Trott to get the Red and Blacks second string score up into triple figures.

Alex Dixon with 23 quick runs aided the latter stages of the Wellington effort with the bat.

Trott was looking for quick runs to take his side past 200 and when he was out at 176-5 Rob Moysey and Ian Hewson with 24no and 9no respectively sealed the deal.

For Curry Tilley with 8-2-11-1 was the stand out performer with the ball.

Curry skipper Higginson was the main reason that his side had chased down the previously mentioned totals, but there was no real support for his good knock of 42.

Lee Nichol and Ian Hewson took the new ball for Wellington and removed one wicket each and Tyler Fyfe was tidy before seam gave way to spin in the form of leg spin from both ends as skipper Alex Troake and Rob Moysey joined the attack and took a combined 8-25 in 9.4 overs with 3-16 going the way of Troake and 5-9 that of Moysey as only Stevens with 12no joined his skipper in making double figures.
