Exmoor Rangers 1 1 Wellington Reds (Wellington Reds win 4-3 on Penalties)
Wellington Reds, the footballing section of Wellington Cricket Club, met Exmoor Rangers for the second time in six days last Friday evening when they both met at Castle School Sports Hall in Taunton for a Seward Cup First Round game as part of their Taunton and District Saturday League programme and it was the Reds who held sway for a second time following their 4-0 Division Three win the weekend before.
Rangers were in better form this time, but still Reds went ahead through Tyler Fyfe.
Luke Vernon saved a penalty after the Reds had conceded one, but the half time score was 1-1 as Rangers scored from open play and that is how it stayed for the rest of normal time.
The game went straight to penalties as is the way with Cup games these days and it was ebb and flow all the way for both sides as some kicks went in and some were wayward.
James Stillman provided the winning touch for the Reds and combined with more great keeping from Luke Vernon the side are through to the Second Round where they will play away to either Norton Fitzwarren Firsts or Bridgwater and Albion Firsts on a date to be announced.
It back to League action away to Minehead AFC Colts at Dunster FC on Saturday 26th September from 2.00pm
