Kilve Sunday XI 159 Wellington Sunday XI 94

Wellington Sunday XI made the trip to West Somerset League club Kilve last weekend as the Red and Blacks short senior section season for 2020 ended in glorious autumnal sunshine, but with a 65 run loss on the record.

Ben Evett took charge on the day and saw his side would be in the field as the toss was lost and Kilve opened up with a 15 run first wicket stand which was ended when Ollie Hunt yorked home skipper C.Taylor.

R.Rock and Clemenson then frustrated the Wellington attack by adding 96 for the second wicket to take Kilve to 111-1 with around half their allocation of overs left…

However spin did for the Kilve middle order as Rob Moysey and Arron Campbell as they caved in from the strength of being 111-1 to 115-7 as they shared five wickets between them.

Ollie Hunt’s second spell got a second wicket for him first ball back and Des Campbell’s good caught and bowled effort ended the Kilve innings as they recovered to 159 all with eight balls going unused as J.Taylor Junior made 18 good late runs.

Wellington saw Ben Evett and Ian Hewson getĀ double figuresĀ on the board before Evett was caught behind for ten and good Kilve bowling reduced matters to 51-6 with Tom Shannon’s 13 being the best offering.

Arron Campbell and Rob Moysey took the score to 93-6 before Moysey had to retire injured due to sustaining a leg injury having made 19no.

Campbell made an innings high of 33, but was bowled and the Wellington innings was all over with Moysey unable to return leaving David Derrick unbeaten having run out of partners.

Left arm spinner Calder with 2-7 in seven overs led the way for an economical home attack who never served up a lot to hit.
