Trull 2nd XI 210 Wellington 2nd XI 154

Wellington 2nd XI are eighth in Division Five of the Somerset League and had a good chance of overhauling Trull 2nd XI’s total, but were all out some 50 odd short of the required total with nearly 12 overs left as their run chase ran out of steam in the end last weekend.

Ryan Adams won the toss and decided to ask the hosts to bat first and their total was built on N.Ball’s 64, England’s 30 and Spurway’s late knock of 42.

Gus Steele with 2-38 in nine overs bowled well with the new ball and was supported by both Jake Nichol and Tom Perry.

At 131-5 with Nathan Roberts taking two wickets Trull were a little in need of some more runs from the middle and lower orders and Spurway provided such to get them to 210 all out with 3.1 overs unused as both Oli Beale and Lewis Sparks took a wicket each late on for Wellington’s second string.

Wellington scored at a good rate, but lost wickets too often as Nathan Roberts made a fine 43 as opener as he and Callum Hendy added 34 first up.

Lewis Sparks with a fine 34, Mark Salter with 17 and Gus Steele with 17no played well for their runs, but Wellington were all out for 154 in 33.2 overs as Spurway added to his good game by taking 3-26 in 9 overs.
