Wellington 3rd XI 79 South Petherton 2nd XI 80-3

Wellington 3rd XI are ninth in Division Seven South of the Somerset League after this seven wicket defeat last time out when second placed South Petherton 2nd XI won at Sampford Arundel CC as a good start was not developed.

Simon Burrough and David Derrick put on 31 in 12 overs and this score had doubled through the continued efforts of Burrough and Andy Groves, but from 62-2 it was a case of all out for 79 with Burrough’s fine 44 holding it all together with Salter’s 6-20 in seven overs and Young’s 3-27 in 6.1 overs doing the damage.

Boulton hit the ball hard once more on his way to 44 and with an opening stand of 67 with Brooks (21no) had the job pretty much done for the visitors, but there was a sting in the tail as Darren Davis with a three wicket burst earned some bonus points for Wellington’s third string.
