Wellington Midweek XI took the short trip to Ashbrittle last Thursday evening for this social T20 game and it was a close matter as the Red and Blacks closed out a nine run win in their favour.

Jack Beal took charge of the game for Wellington and after a wicket had been lost with the score on four Nathan Roberts and Arron Campbell crafted a good second wicket stand of 82 as Campbell made it to a good fifty and Roberts ended on 33.

Luke Desave with 22 saw that Wellington would end on 149-5 in their 20 overs with Callum White taking 2-25 in four overs for the West Somerset League based hosts.

Wellington bowled and fielded well as Tom Shannon took up the attack for the Red and Blacks and bowled with good pace and it was Ben Evett, showing his bowling credentials, who took the first wicket when he removed Andy Hill for 18.

Wickets also came the way of Arron Campbell, Nathan Roberts, Jack Beal and Des Campbell as Ollie Barker with 21, Robbie Williams with 26 and Rob Popplestone with 23no took the hosts to within ten runs of their target.

A barbecue was enjoyed after the game and this was a good way to end a good game.
