Wellington Reds Under 11s 321-1 Brompton Ralph Under 11s 211-8
Wellington Under 11 Reds push for a second consecutive season with honours gathered momentum as they recorded a 110 run victory over a side vying for the runners up spot in the Taunton and District Youth League U11 West ‘A’ Division.
Opting to fieldWellington’s new ball bowlers Charlie Crossley and Thomas Gendall were on the money straight away as the Brompton batters couldn’t get the ball off the square and only extras kept the scoreboard moving.
Gendall managed to bag figures of 3-8 in his 3 overs and further wickets for Charlie Young, Atticus Adams and Thomas Knell kept the scoreboard in check as a modest score of 211 was a credit to the whole fielding unit.
The two Charlies, Crossley and Young, were the openers for Wellington and several crisp boundaries, meant they had already reached 232 as they completed their 4 overs.
These were followed by the two Thomases, Gendall and Knell, who managed to play superbly in adding a further 37 runs by the halfway stage.
Oscar Milton was next in with ‘skipper Atticus Adams and they kept the scoring ticking along to reach 287 for the loss of just 1 wicket.
Will Crossley and Jonah Richardson then added 34 unanswered runs in quick time to take the winning margin past the 100 mark.
With 3 games to play Wellington Reds now sit in 2nd spot and with a good net run rate have a chance of securing the runners up birth to county champions Taunton St Andrews.
