Taunton Deane 3rd XI 249-2 Wellington 2nd XI 249-6
Wellington 2nd XI tied in Division Five of the Somerset League for a second time in a week as they chased Taunton Deane 3rd XI’s massive first innings total all the way at Pitminster last weekend.
Deane opted to bat on winning the toss and saw that they amassed all but one run short of 249 as Parsons with 127, Stephenson with 58 and Axon with 44no all had fun with the bat in the hot, clear conditions.
Nathan Roberts had a hand in the two Deane wickets to fall as he ran out Stephenson and bowled Parsons in taking 1-53 in nine overs; there was no little effort from the seven bowlers used by the Red and Blacks second string, but it was a batter’s day for sure.
Wellington were 56-3 when Nathan Roberts, who had opened, was joined by Thom Trott to add 106 fourth wicket runs that brought Wellington into the game for sure with Roberts completing a fine all round game as he made 41.
At 167-5 Wellington were still in need of another eighty or so runs and so it was Trott with 93no all told and Jason Harris with an energetic 47 with three sixes that took Wellington to the brink of a memorable run chase with Harris been run out just three short of a half century.
Josh Moysey joined Trott for the final passage of play in the game and they got Wellington to parity and a share of the points…
