Wellington 2nd XI 101 Horrington 31-1
Wellington 2nd XI are sixth in Division Five of the Somerset League after their visit to Wells based side Horrington was abadoned as a draw after 15.5 overs of the home side’s reply when a storm washed proceedings away to leave the Red and Blacks second string with 18 points to the home side’s 23.
Wellington found themselves at 23-3 before Mark Salter and Gus Steele added some backbone to the total with a fourth wicket stand of 28 as Salter made a good 22 before been trapped LBW.
Steele made it to 20 and was assisted at the crease by Tom Perry and Sam Wooster who both made 13 each, but Wellington were all out for 101 with nearly eight overs going unused as Horrington shared the wickets about with K.Russell’s 3-26 been the best offering.
Macaulay Campbell and Gus Steele bowled with accuracy and no little zip as they each let just eleven runs go in 15.5 overs combined with Steele getting the wicket to fall as Mark Salter collected a dismissal as wicketkeeper, but that was it as the game was abandoned as a draw.
