Wellington Reds U11 205 Taunton St Andrews A 296

Wellington Reds having been promoted following last season’s league winning season travelled to Taunton on Sunday morning and faced a very strong St Andrews side, but came away with credit in their performance.

Batting first Jonah Richardson and Will Crossley added 10 runs in their 4 overs, before William Lyon-Taylor and Oscar Milton found things tough against the ‘Saints’ county bowlers.

Oliver Hutchings and Thomas Knell added runs, but also got ‘out’ four times, so it was left to Thomas Gendall and Atticus Adams to score late order runs and post a total of 205 at the turn around.

Wellington bowled tidily and fielded well, but with St Andrews having the calibre of players on show, including a King’s College import from Cornwall, who scored 48 on his own, including 3 x 4s and 3 6s, it was always going to be tough.

The home side finished on 296 and the Wellington side left The Wyvern Club in no doubt as to how tough a season it would be now they are playing in the top division.
