Wellington travelled to Bridgwater CC on May Day Bank Holiday Sunday to take part in a triangular tournament as part of the WEPL region’s qualifying competition for the National Club T20 Competition and the Red and Blacks took on fellow Somerset Division side North Petherton first and then the host Club who are an established Premier One outfit in First Round Group Three action…
Wellington recorded an emphatic win over North Petherton as Arron Campbell’s charges bowled, caught and fielded well to restrict Petherton to 88 all out in 17.4 overs as Will Derrick with 2-9 in four overs and Gus Steele with 2-16 in two overs were successful and there was a wicket apiece for each of Arron Campbell, Jack Beal and Macaulay Campbell.
For Petherton Bowditch with 13 was their most profitable batsman.
Wellington saw Ben Evett smack two fours in the second over as the Red and Blacks showed good intent to chase down the 89 needed to win in quick time…
Despite been 17-2 Aks Latifi with 49no and Luke Desave with 25no saw Wellington home with no further alarms and to an eight wicket win with 12 overs unused with Boobyer taking 2-25 for Petherton and so Wellington had set up a decider with the host Club who had won the day’s opening game with Petherton as they smashed well over 200 in their 20 overs before despatching their opponents for just over 50 to record a massive win by any yardstick…
